Grammy Award-winning rapper, Cardi B, on Wednesday decried the Lekki shootings and urged president Muhammadu Buhari to treat Nigerians right.
The rapper who boasts a loyal fan base in Nigeria made the charge during a live chat on her official Instagram handle
“Nigerian government, you’ve got to treat your people right, you know what I’m saying? Just like motherfucking every country right? But you’ve got to treat your people right. In order for your country to be successful, it’s by treating your people, by putting money in your country, I mean by building’’
The rapper, who was given a Nigerian name, Chioma B, during her first visit to Nigeria in December 2019, extolled the tenacity of the average Nigerian during the live session.
She said, ‘‘Nigerians want to work, Americans are lazy as fuck but they have so many benefits, but Nigerians, they are working around, looking for jobs.
‘‘If you put money in your country, people will want to come out to work. If your people are tired of the shit, the fuck the police are doing, they are abusing people, waoh, just get that shit fixed.
The people make a country, if people are happy, they wanna work and fight for their country. That’s just that.
I’m just saying this because I love Nigeria, but it makes me really sad to see what is going on there and I just want to say something’’.
Earlier in the day, the likes of Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and several others condemned Tuesday night’s massacre at the Lekki toll gate.
