Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala confirmed as WTO DG in history making feat

Dr Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed as the Director-General of the WTO.

At a special meeting of the General Council, the WTO announced her nomination, following a selection process involving eight applicants from around the world.

The tweet read: “Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Nigeria is appointed as the next WTO Director-General.

“Her term begins on March 1st, 2021.”

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala became the first woman to head the WTO and the first African.
