Nigerians who have received COVID-19 vaccine outside of the country will still be screened when they return to the country, according to the Federal Government.
Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, confirmed this during a Channels Television interview on Monday.
Having vaccinated, according to Mamora, does not guarantee that one will not contract the infection.
Many who got the vaccine outside of the country must show proof of taking the test within the estimated time period when they reach the country, according to him.
“They need to produce evidence of taking a PCR test within the estimated time limit when they come into the country.
“Also, having been vaccinated does not absolutely say that you can’t get the infection. What the vaccine guarantees are that if you get the infection, you are not likely to succumb.
“The fact that you got a vaccine is no license for you to down your guard. These things we have said will still be in place in terms of non-pharmaceutical interventions,” he said.
