Buhari, Osinbajo receive first doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

Buhari and Osinbajo receive the vaccines to demonstrate to the nation that the vaccines are safe.

The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine was sent to President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the first time.

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, the president and his vice president were vaccinated at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Dr Shuaib Rafindadi Sanusi, the president’s personal physician, administered the vaccine to him, while Dr Nicholas Odifre, the vice president’s personal physician, administered it to him.

After receiving the vaccine, the president said, “I have received my first jab and I wish to recommend it to all eligible Nigerians to do same so that we can be protected from the virus.”

It was reported that Buhari and Osinbajo will publicly receive the vaccines in front of television cameras to show the nation that the vaccines are healthy.

On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Nigeria got the first shipment of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines, and a national implementation plan has been distributed.
