A group of Nigerians in the UK have gathered in protest of President Buhari’s arrival, asking the government to “…send him back to Nigeria to restore the health care system.”
This follows Omoyele Sowore’s tweet, in which he called the President’s medical trip to London a waste of money and suggested that the President get his checkup at the “world-class” hospital he built since taking power.
In a tweet he made at 11:53am Nigerian time, the activist and SaharaReporters owner said, “Nigerians in UK must #occupy the hospital where sickly @mbuhari is wasting Nigeria’s resources and the Nigeria embassy as well as Abuja Hiuse in London, let Buhari return home and do a medical check in the “world class” hospital he built since coming to power. #Buharimustgo!”
There have been heated reactions by Nigerians since the announcement of the planned medical trip ,which duration was not mentioned.
Again, the planned medical trip came barely hours after the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors announced the that it was embarking on a nationwide strike on Thursday because of what it described as the Federal Government’s insincerity in implementing agreements.
Besides the announcement made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity ,Mr Femi Adesina, there has been no further announcement on whether the planned trip was communicated to the Senate or if powers were handed over to Vice President Yemi Osibanjo.
In 2017 , President Muhammadu Buhari spent a total of 104days treating an undisclosed ailment in London.
