The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has visited the vandalized Imo State Correctional Centre and the police headquarters in Owerri.

The Imo Governor made this visit after rising from an emergency Security meeting with the Security chiefs in the state.

The Governor who went to get a first hand view of what happened, condemned the dastardly act by the yet to be identified gunmen who carried out the attacks.

Over 1,844 inmates escaped from the prison break which happened in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Files containing records of inmates were burnt to ashes and tens of operational vehicles were razed.

The gunmen used explosives to gain access to the facility and freed all the inmates who are presently on the run.

Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from the Monday’s attacks on Police and Correctional Service headquarters in IMO state.
