Sokoto state govt. sensitizes residents on COVID-19 vaccines

The Sokoto State ministry of health have organised a one day stakeholder sensitization on Covid-19 vaccine rollout.

Speaking at the sensitization workshop held in Wednesday the 7th of April at giginya Secretariat, Sokoto, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Ali Inname, said Covid-19 vaccine is safe and those considered within the vulnerable ages should strive towards being vaccinated.

Dr Inname stated that the State received over 60,000 doses of the vaccines in February, 2021 and have so far administered it to over 15,000 individuals across the State. The Commissioner also stated that the next phase of the vaccination will take place in the coming weeks, irrespective of Ramadan fast.

Dr Inname enjoined all relevant Stakeholders in the state especially religious and traditional leaders to partner with the state government to ensure that their followers are duly enlightened on the need to willingly accept the vaccine.

He further charged them with the responsibility of ensuring that the safety preventing measures against the spread of the virus is constantly adhered to in every gathering.

The sensitization programme was attended by officials from the state ministry of health, Religious bodies, Community leaders, representatives from other health organizations in the state.
