The US Presidency has confirmed that six Super Tucano light attack aircraft will be delivered to Nigeria in mid-July.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, revealed that the six are among the 12 jets that the United States will deliver to Nigeria.
He also revealed that 14 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel are currently training in Georgia on how to deploy the jets.
Shehu made the announcement on his verified Twitter account.
“Test flight operations for @NigAirForce newly acquired Super Tucano combat aircraft.
“Six of the 12 Super Tucanos are on track to arrive in mid-July 2021. With the remaining six shortly after that. There are 14 Nigerian pilots currently training at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia,” he tweeted.
