Anambra police zonal headquarters attacked, offices burn down

About 20 gunmen allegedly attacked the Zonal Police Headquarters, Zone13, Ukpo, Anambra State, early hours Monday.

Report from 774Ngr correspondent in the state said that some offices and many of vehicles were burnt during the attack.

A police officer, who pleaded not to be quoted said the individuals who were only described as hoodlums were rebuffed from getting into the armoury department of the police headquarters despite the intense attack.

Though, reasons for the attack could not be ascertained as of press time but according to the police officer, “Our men prevented them from having ingress into our armoury. I can’t tell you the number of casualties now because we have scanty information about the development.”

According to a resident that spoke with newsmen, there was heavy gunshots before the offices and vehicles were set ablaze.

Similarly, gunmen, on Monday morning, reportedly razed down a police station in Uzoakoli, Bende local government area of Abia State.
