As fans are able to attend home games next season, Bayern Munich plans to throw paper tickets out the window and go green by using only digital ticketing, the club announced Tuesday.
Since March 2020, all home games at Bayern’s Allianz Arena stadium have been played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, once the hygiene restrictions are removed and fans can once again attend home games, the club world champions plan to phase out paper tickets and transfer all ticketing to the interne
“Sustainability, conservation of resources and reduction of CO2 emissions are central issues at FC Bayern,” said club vice-chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.t in 2021-22.
Bayern will save “around 350,000 printed letters that were traditionally sent by post” by eliminating the use of paper or plastic for tickets, he says.
Bayern, who lead the Bundesliga by seven points with three games remaining, are set to be crowned champions for the ninth consecutive season on Saturday.
