COVID-19: 17 corps members hospitalised in Edo

According to the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Osagie Ebomwonyi, over 17 corps members deployed to Edo State who showed symptoms of the dangerous COVID-19 have been admitted to the Stella Obasanjo Hospital in the state for treatment.

During an inspection tour of the state’s infectious disease isolation centre at the hospital in Benin with Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ebomwonyi stated that even though the cases were unvaccinated, they were conducting studies and analyses to determine if the Delta variant was present in the state.

Mr. Ozeto Waheed, a personal assistant to the state coordinator of the youth program, said the 17 corps members serving in the state were receiving treatment and had been mobilized to serve in the state.

“When prospective corps members arrive, they should expect to be tested at the gate, and anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is normally taken to the isolation center for further confirmation,” he explained.

Governor Obaseki, on the other hand, stated that the administration is prepared to deal efficiently with the Delta version of coronavirus, despite the fact that no confirmed cases of the fatal virus have been reported in the state.
