A strategic bridge along the Wawa-Lumma road in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State was decimated on Monday following a targeted explosion attributed to suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The blast, which occurred along a critical transport artery in the North-Central region, caused significant structural failure to the bridge, rendering the route impassable for heavy and light vehicles. Borgu Local Government Area, which shares borders with the Kainji Lake National Park, has previously been identified by security experts as a potential corridor for criminal elements moving between regional borders.
